LED Plant Grow Lights are as delicious as tomatoes, and are expected to replae Halogen Lamp

In order to meet consumers' demand for locally produced fresh tomatoes, greenhouse farms usually rely on additional lighting equipment to grow tomatoes during non-season seasons.

Farmers are beginning to notice the advantages of LED Grow Lights. Because of the energy-saving advantages of LED Plant Grow Lights, they hope to replace HPS in greenhouses. A recent study provided some information on the feasibility of using Best Led Grow Lighting in greenhouse tomatoes.

Michael Dzakovich, Celina Gómez, and Cary Mitchell from the Department of Agriculture and Landscape Architecture at Purdue University in the United States released the results of their research in HortScience. They pointed out that LED Grow lighting has gradually become an alternative to high-pressure sodium lamps. They pointed out: “People are quite curious about the effects of phytochemicals and factory levels in high-value greenhouse crops that use LED lights as light sources. However, so far there is hardly any fruit crop that has been exposed to Best Full Spectrum Led Grow Lights for a long time to mature. Research on Tomato."

Researchers conducted three independent studies to investigate the effect of the amount and quality of supplemental lighting on tomatoes grown in greenhouses. Plants are a control group that fully receives natural sunlight, natural sunlight plus HPS lamp auxiliary lighting, and natural sunlight plus LED plant growth lights. Scientists collect color, Brix, titratable acidity, electrical conductivity, and pH to analyze the response of plants to lighting. The researchers said: "Contrary to our original assumptions, the fruit quality is completely unaffected by the LED auxiliary light source."

The research also includes inviting the tasting team to rank the color, acidity, and sweetness of tomatoes, and the combined use of measuring instruments. The taster must also evaluate the color, aroma, touch, sweetness, acidity, aftertaste and overall feeling of tomatoes. "After collecting the biochemical and actual tasting information, we can decide whether the data endorsed by physical chemistry is also reflected in consumers' perception of tomato quality."

The tasting group indicated that the difference in materialized data cannot be distinguished by the tasting; in fact, the tasting group could not distinguish the difference between tomatoes with different auxiliary lighting and tomatoes without auxiliary light at all.

Studies have shown that the quality of greenhouse tomatoes is not affected by whether they receive auxiliary lighting or not. The data obtained from physical and chemical measurements show that there are only slight differences between different control groups, and the tasters have confirmed that these differences are so subtle that they are difficult to distinguish.

The researchers said that the results of this study have positive significance for farmers who want to introduce LED lighting in the greenhouse. "The intensity and wavelength of the LED auxiliary light source does not have any negative impact on the quality of greenhouse tomatoes, and it shows that the LED light source is suitable as an alternative light source for HPS lamps with overheating problems."
